Lesson 4
Nicotine and Other Drugs
This week, our Footprints for Life story focused on drugs such as nicotine, alcohol, and medicine. You learned the effects that smoking cigarettes can have on the body as well as some of the ingredients found in tobacco smoke. These include tar, acetone (Nail Polish Remover), carbon monoxide (car exhaust), and ammonia (a harsh cleaning product).
You also learned that tobacco companies put out advertisements to try and sell cigarettes, but they do not always tell the truth. The advertisements make smoking look glamorous and fun, like everyone should be trying it, but they do NOT say anything about all those negative consequences we learned about during the lesson.
